Dental care in the United States is delivered mostly by private practices: a general or family dentist who handles exams, cleanings, fillings and crowns, and refers out anything that needs a specialist. Group practices and dental clinics put several dentists, hygienists and sometimes specialists under one roof, often with evening and Saturday hours. Most offices ask new patients for a comprehensive exam with X-rays before routine cleanings, which the American Dental Association recommends every six months. Prices are set by each practice, and most accept dental insurance (PPO plans more widely than HMO ones), CareCredit-style financing or an in-house membership plan for people without coverage. Emergency dental services take same-day patients for toothaches, broken teeth and abscesses, usually at a premium.

Hours are published for 5 days a week. On most of those days it is open 7 am–4 pm. Note that it does not open on Saturday, Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Alpharetta Periodontics at (770) 410-7565; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. I had an excellent experience with Alpharetta Perio and Dr. Michelotti. From the moment I arrived, the assistant made sure I was comfortable throughout my procedure, which I greatly appreciated. Dr. Michelotti exhibited exceptional gentleness and took such great care of me during and after the procedure. It’s rare to find a periodontist who truly listens to your concerns and prioritizes patient comfort as much as he does. If you're considering a periodontist, I highly recommend Dr. Michelotti. You won’t be disappointed!

I was positively impressed with the staff and Dr. Michelotti. The doctor spent the time to fully explain and show (via the 3D scan) my problems. I have full confidence in this group. Costs of the various options were well defined.

I was referred to Dr. Harrell for some work regarding a crown placed by my dentist, and I had a great experience from start to finish. The whole team including the office staff were so kind and helpful and Dr. Harrell has such a calming presence, he made what could be a stressful experience, go very smoothly. He even reached out to me himself later that day to make sure I was doing well. Highly recommend this team for your periodontal and dental surgery needs.

Dr. Harrell and his staff are the best! I’ve had to see them on many occasions, although I hope not to have to need them in the future. If I needed to have special care again, I would definitely go to them. They are always professional and, very caring.
